MORTARA – A journey into the world of bow and arrows in the company of the Il Moro district. The appointment is scheduled for next Saturday, May 4th, at 3.30 pm in the conference room of Palazzo Cambieri. “The event, organized with the support of two other associations, one citizen and one national, aims to be the beginning of a series of collateral activities to those already consolidated in the Mortarese districts. – explains Edoardo Anfossi, president of the Il Moro district – The valorisation of one of the aspects that for more than 50 years has given a personality and a characterization to our historic Palio Città di Mortara and recently is one of the elements of the newborn dispute for that of the Santa Cross”.
The yellow-green conference takes place in collaboration with the Asd Arcieri dell’olmo and with “Progetto Arkan”. The protagonist of the theoretical part will be Marco Mustardino, national trainer and manager of the “Arkan Project”.
The theoretical part will be followed by a practical test, at the end of the work, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, in the gardens in front of Palazzo Cambieri. The arch is the characterizing element of the Mortara event. And it has been so since 1970. “There were other tests of skill and strength, but the Archer immediately stands out as a true showman and with his weapon represents the difference in winning the coveted flag. From the first edition and for many years, participation has always been played with sporting arches, generally of an Olympic type. – illustrates Anfossi – As the years pass, the conviction matures that the historical arc is the path to pursue to define and characterize the Mortara Palio even better”.
After a brief pause in the nineties, when the palio was played with dice, the use of archery was resumed in 1997 and the following year the move was made to the single historical bow. The bow, in fact, was the same for all archers. After a few years of “experiment” we moved on to the longobow or, for those who want, the historical bow.
