First victory in the second group game of the Champions League for the FC Bayern footballers. The Munich team deservedly defeated Paris Saint-Germain away with 1-0 (1-0).

The FC Bayern women gave the right answer to the disappointing 2-2 draw at the start of the Champions League group phase against AS Roma. In the second group game, coach Alexander Straus’s team deservedly defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 (1-0) and is temporarily leading Group C with four points. Opponent PSG is still without a point and is about to be eliminated. For the Munich team it was only the second victory in the sixth duel against the French.

Eriksson scores again

The visitors were clearly the dominant team in the first half. PSG only hit the side netting once through Onema Geyoro (23′). Otherwise, the Munich team had good chances and took the well-deserved half-time lead through Magdalena Eriksson in the 21st minute. The Swede only had to push the ball over the line from close range after Glodis Viggosdottir headed over Klara Bühl’s free-kick cross. The central defender Eriksson had already made it 1-0 in the league game at Werder Bremen at the weekend.

The visiting team could have taken the lead twice before, but Jade Le Guilly’s header return against the direction of goalkeeper Katarzyna Kiedrzynek was cleared by the Polish goalkeeper before it crossed the goal line (7th). A little later, Klara Bühl aimed too centrally for the keeper (14th). Before halftime, Lea Schüller didn’t hit the ball properly after a pass from Jovana Damnjanovic (27′). In the last five minutes, referee Marta Huerta de Aza denied Linda Dallmann a legitimate penalty (41′).

FC Bayern managed calmly – PSG was too harmless

In the second half, PSG had to come and initially did. In the 52nd minute, Tabitha Chawinga escaped, but Marla Grohs was there with a foot save and prevented the connection. The visitors focused on a controlled offensive game and left PSG little room for chances. Likke Martens’ deflected shot from the edge of the penalty area was missed by Grohs (65′), but it wasn’t really dangerous.

Instead, coach Alexander Straus’ team could have made it 2-0. After a corner from the right, Geyoro almost deflected the ball into her own goal, but her goalkeeper saved her (70th). In the final phase the French rose again, but substitute Ramona Bachmann only hit the side netting (82′). Since Lina Magull’s deflected shot didn’t find its way into the goal (89th), the score remained 1-0 in the end and the FC Bayern women said goodbye to the international break.
