Dries Devenyns (40) continues to work at Soudal – Quick Step. After his career as a professional cyclist, he is now starting one as a team leader. “I’m grabbing this opportunity with both hands,” says the former road captain.

Dries Devenyns exchanges his bike for another place in the peloton. From next year he will take a seat in the Soudal – Quick Step support car. Devenyns will assist both the WorldTour and the development team with his experience.

“I couldn’t be happier,” responds Devenyns, who rode his last race in Italy at the beginning of October.

“It wasn’t easy to end my career,” he continues. “I’m grabbing this opportunity with both hands.”

Devenyns filled the role as road captain at Soudal – Quick Step for many years. Leaders such as Julian Alaphilippe and Remco Evenepoel could count on his unconditional support.

“Now I am taking a new path,” says the 40-year-old former rider. “I’m going to get to know the job of a team leader.”

“Dries cherishes the Wolfpack spirit. We are pleased to be starting the 22nd year of our team with him.”

“It will be a challenge for Dries,” Lefevere says, “but we have confidence in him. He is passionate and he loves the sport.”
