Zinedine Zidane, Yohan Gourcuff, Alain Giresse, Pedro Miguel Pauleta, Christophe Dugarry, Marius Trésor or Bixente Lizarazu… Here are some of the great players who passed through Bordeaux and came to represent their club this Tuesday evening. In front of 32,000 spectators, they recalled the finest hours of the club, resident of the Chaban-Delmas stadium until 2015 and its move to Matmut Atlantique. The den is now occupied by rugby players from the Union Bordeaux Bègles.

A shower of stars

As for the Variétés Club de France, the casting also looked great. On the match sheet, Laurent Blanc, Christian Karembeu, Robert Pirès, Fabien Barthez and even Ludovic Giuly were present. It wasn’t just footballers invited to the event, since the 1983 Roland-Garros winner Yannick Noah was there. Just like the comedians Paul Mirabel and Redouane Bougheraba.

The match got lively from the start since from the 2nd minute, Zinedine Zidane served, with his legendary vista, Pedro Miguel Pauleta in the area. The Portuguese striker concluded with a low shot against the post. The player who played for PSG scored a second goal in the 21st minute, full of composure when finishing in the area.

Mamadou Niang reduced the gap shortly before half-time, in the 39th minute. The Variétés Club de France striker scored with a left-footed shot, which hit the post. Former Bordeaux player Diego Rolan then gave the Girondins a two-goal lead with a header (67th, 3-1), before Ludovic Obraniak scored a fourth goal (72nd, 4-1). Then Thibault Giresse scored for the Variétés Club de France (81st, 4-2).

Two final goals were scored at the very end of the match: by Steve Savidan for the Variétés Club de France (90th + 3, 4-3), then by Bordeaux rugby player Laurent Ferreres (90th + 5, 5-3).

A great meeting, in a good mood, in front of a delighted audience. At the microphone of France 3, Zinedine Zidane even recalled his most beautiful memory at the Chaban-Delmas stadium: “The greatest emotion I had here was against AC Milan (in 1996, in the quarter-finals). UEFA Cup final). Nobody saw us as winners and we qualified. It was great. » This Tuesday evening, the stadium remembered a beautiful part of its history.
