Draymond Green has already served the five-game suspension with which he was punished for his attack on Rudy Gobert. The power forward, who has not played since November 14, will be able to return to action in the match that his team will play tomorrow in Sacramento, so he spoke to the press to comment, already cold, on his impressions of what happened in Minnesota.
“I don’t live my life with regrets,” he began. «I will come to the defense of one of my colleagues whenever I am in a position to do so. For me the important thing is how the people I care about are doing, that’s the first thing. What are the problems that affect my people? “I’m going to worry about that.”
It’s not as if anyone expected a public apology from someone like Green at this point, so this flight forward is somewhat part of the expected script. Obviously no one blames Draymond for defending Klay Thompson, but rather for doing so disproportionately and because it rains in the wet. And that, no matter how much he continued his statements talking about how these types of actions can be valued in very different ways, is something that he also knows.

«Things can always be interpreted however people want to interpret them. I am not here to evaluate interpretations or to try to change them. They are what they are. For my part, I will always be there for my teammates because that’s who I am. This is how I act as a partner or as a friend. It seems good, bad or indifferent to you, look to your side and I will be there. That said, there is always a way to do things better, so I have to find that way.
In the statement in which his sanction was made public, the NBA explicitly stated that the five-game suspension was due in part to Draymond’s long history of controversial actions, something that he, for his part, did not consider appropriate.
«To comment on that idea of ’but he already did such a thing all those years ago’: I already paid for those actions. “I was already suspended in the fifth game of the 2016 Finals. I cannot continue to be suspended for those plays.”
