Criollos de Caguas Activate Shortstop Luis Vázquez for Winter Baseball Season

The Criollos de Caguas activated shortstop Luis Vázquez this Saturday, after completing the first 10 games of the 2023-24 winter baseball season.

Vázquez was recently protected on the 40-man roster by the Chicago Cubs organization. The 24-year-old Orocoveño player is in his fifth season with the Criollos.

He entered the active roster to replace imported ranger Dwight Smith Jr, who left the team due to personal commitments.

This year with the Cubs he recorded his best numbers in Minor League Baseball, in double A and triple A, with an average of .271 with 123 hits, 20 home runs, 80 runs batted in and 10 stolen bases.

The Criollos will have their next two games at their Yldefonso Solá Morales Stadium. Today, Saturday, they will receive a visit from the defending champions Indios de Mayagüez at 7:45 pm and tomorrow, Sunday, the Leones de Ponce at 4:10 pm.
