Amato Lusitano – Development Association, within the scope of USALBI, and in partnership with the Network of Universities for the Elderly, promoted a meeting for elderly people through the Walking Football Tournament.
This sport, especially adapted for seniors, has been gaining popularity among the elderly population, offering a safe and accessible version of football.
The event, supported by Castelo Branco City Council, brought together around 140 senior athletes from different regions of the country on the synthetic fields of the Leisure Zone in the city of Albicastrense, the organization said in a statement.
The sport practiced, which prohibits players from running, provided moments of skill, determination and fair play. During the matches, the athletes demonstrated respect and passion for the game. The games were played in a lively and exciting way, marked by conviviality and sportsmanship.
In addition to the competition, the tournament aimed to promote the importance of physical activity in old age.
The real prize for the participants was the experience of experiencing a moment full of joy, camaraderie and overcoming challenges, which culminated in a social lunch.
