The Colombian women’s basketball team, under-17 category, began its participation in the FIBA U17 South American Women’s Championship Bucaramanga 2023 positively, as it debuted with victory against the representative of Bolivia.
At the beginning of group A, Colombia easily surpassed Bolivia and is already at the top of the zone of the southern continental basketball competition.
With a final score of 77 out of 59, the national quintet came back and surpassed that of Bolivia, registering a first quarter in favor of the Bolivians, 14-27, and the remaining three with a positive balance for the Colombians, 19-7, 18- 12 and 26-13.
Meradith Venner, from the Colombian ranks, was the most outstanding player of the sporting event, scoring +29 efficiency, 30 points scored, 13 rebounds gained, one steal and two blocks.
With this result, Colombia is first in group A, with two points, the same as Ecuador, which is second; Chile, third with one point; Bolivia, fourth with one, and Venezuela, fifth without units, complete the zone classification.
Group B, which has not yet entered action, is made up of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
It is worth remembering that only the two most consistent teams in each group will advance to the semi-final round, the others will go on to play from the fifth to the eighth square.
