Arepia, Salta’s Master Athlete, to represent Argentina at South American Championships

Arepia, 48, is also traveling on behalf of the Salteña Master Athletics Association (ASAM), and will be part of the national delegation along with 54 other athletes from all over the country.
A little less than a week after the start, Arepia told his feelings in communication with New Salta Newspaper. “I am the only Salta native who is part of the Argentine National Team (…) I am very excited as always to compete. Last year I traveled to Bogotá and we became South American Champions in the 4×100 relay (…) I am excited to get on the podium,” he highlighted.
The local athlete will participate in the 100m and 200m flat speed events, and will join the national 4x100m relay relay, in the Master 45-49 years category.
“I’m ready. Since January I haven’t stopped, I competed in the Mercosur Grand Prix, last March in Concepción del Uruguay, and in the National Championship that was approximately a month and a half ago in Posadas, where I was also able to make podiums,” Arepia, who trains, also said. Monday to Friday, three times a week on the Legado Güemes track, and twice in the gym.
“He is very competitive and has arduous preparation,” also concluded the athlete from Salta, 2nd in the national ranking of the Argentine Confederation of Master Athletes, a position that allows him to participate in the South American competition.
“This is discipline, it is a way of life. Most of us masters do it for the love of the sport and the shirt.”
The South American Master Athletics Championship that will be held in Lima will have approximately 1,300 competitors (number of currently registered) in the five divisions of the different events. There will be participants from all South American countries and guests from Central America and North America, respectively, with some guests from Europe also expected.

Out loud: “I take care of all expenses, travel, transfers, accommodation, food, registration, etc.,” Arepia remarked.

Judo played the Clausura

On Saturday, the Clausura tournament of the Salteña Judo Federation was held, with more than 120 judokas from Orán, Tartagal, Mosconi, JV Gonzalez, General Güemes, and the gyms of Salta Capital.
By teams, they classified: 1st Italian Society, 2nd Gimnasio Jigoro Kano, and 3rd Tartagal.
Now, the National Clausura is coming from November 23 to 26 in San-tiago del Estero.
