Sports Clubs in Seville Demand Information on Subsidies for Olympic and Paralympic Sports

They show their “utmost concern for the health of the Sevillians and their sporting inferiority compared to other Andalusian provinces.”

SEVILLA, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Eight sports clubs in the province of Seville have requested from the Provincial Council precise information on the current status of the 2023 call for subsidies to promote minority Olympic and Paralympic sports modalities of maximum and sub-maximum categories, because it has not yet been published despite the advance of the calendar.

These are the Rinconada Badminton Club, the Morón Basketball Club, the Mairena del Aljarafe Swimming Club, the Esquimo Volleyball Club of Dos Hermanas, the Mairena del Aljarafe Volleyball Club, the Utrera Volleyball Club, the Sevilla Quad Rugby Club of Alcalá de Guadaíra and the Dos Hermanas Water Polo Club.

These entities point out “the worrying situation of sport in Seville and the province”, as well as its “weak situation, the urgent need to know the bases of the call for 2023 and a change of course in sports policy”, since in their opinion the The Provincial Council dedicates “very low budgets” to it, causing “a comparative insult for the Sevillian clubs in relation to what the clubs in other Andalusian provinces receive.”

Thus, they request a meeting with the provincial deputy responsible for sports policies, to inform him of the “expenses incurred in the participation of national leagues, in the preparation of athletes, sports licenses, registrations in competitions or salaries”, since to face such costs, the clubs have the income from said aid planned for this year.

The clubs also show their “utmost concern for the current health of the Sevillians and their sporting inferiority compared to other Andalusian provinces, which in many cases leads to many of the best athletes leaving the Sevillian clubs to sign with other clubs with better and more important public financial aid and the declines and disappearances of Sevillian sports entities”.
