Fermont Judo Club Kicks off Successful Season with Growing Interest and Promising Athletes

The Fermont judo club started its season well a few weeks ago.

The club’s coach and technical director, Danny Bouchard, once again notes significant interest from local families in the sport, which continues to grow in popularity:

The two coaches of Judo Fermont, Danny Bouchard and Shannon Power, specify that the youngest judokas and judokates are enthusiastic about learning combat techniques, applying sporting values ​​and add that team spirit is developing well.

This month, four competitive level judokas, Jean-David Bouchard, Cameron Power, William Power and Antonia Rengifo Rengifo, had the opportunity to represent Fermont during the Louis Page Cup, which took place in Jonquière.

Mr. Bouchard explains that this first provincial competition allowed all participants to gain experience and prepare for future tournaments which will be larger:

Note that Antonia Rengifo Rengifo won the silver medal in Ne-waza in Jonquière, a ground combat technique and it was the first time that a judoka from the Fermont club participated in this category.

In November, athletes from the Fermont Judo Club will receive their annual kata training, which will allow them to improve their techniques. Also by the end of the year, three athletes will be eligible to earn their black belt.
