Football, judo, biking, polysports and chess: holiday highlight for 250 children in Goldach and Tübach

In the last week of the autumn holidays, MS Sports put together a varied program for children and young people: three camps were held in parallel in Goldach – in football, biking and polysport. The 250 participants and their trainers are enthusiastic.

There was something going on during the autumn holidays at the Kellen sports complex and in the Wartegghalle in Goldach, and the 250 participants were well looked after. The program lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and included two training sessions in the corresponding sport. In between there was a child-friendly refreshment from a local catering partner. After eating, the 6 to 15 year old kids enjoyed Panini cards, Nintendo Switch, lottery, painting and toy boxes, bike studios, werewolves, scooter races and much more. On the final day, participants from all sports showed what they had learned during the week. Whether it was a tournament or a performance, families and friends turned up in large numbers and had words of praise.

Discover new sports

The polysportive “Move Ya” camp was organized in cooperation between MS Sports and the Shortbeat Goldach association. The 70 participants enjoyed a diverse range of activities including hip-hop dancing, horse riding, tennis, floorball, badminton, handball, judo/self-defense, chess and polysport games. The children were able to benefit from the know-how of regional clubs such as the Tadashi Goldach judo club, the Dance Factory 4 You – Romanshorn and St. Gallen dance school, the GoRo handball club, the DSSP school chess professionals and many other trainers from MS Sports.

Camp leader Peter Hug sums it up with satisfaction: “It’s nice to see how the different clubs work hand in hand at such a large camp, really world class. Every club does its best and picks up every child at their level.” The focus was always on having fun with the sport, as Sarina Bolt (9) from Tübach explains: “I made new friends at the camp and we had a lot of fun with the trainers, they were so funny.” Paul Zuder (8) from Tübach, like many other children, was particularly fascinated by judo: “I learned a trick about how you can knock someone over and how you can defend yourself.”

Doris Hirtl, trainer at the Tadashi Goldach judo club, says: “You can feel that the children come to the camp motivated. They participate very well in the trial training, they are curious and ask a lot of questions. It is a great pleasure to work with the girls and boys. Together we find out in a playful way what judo is all about, and we have a lot of fun doing it. They particularly like the little competitions at the end of the training sessions and they wouldn’t want to stop.”

Practicing for the Mini World Cup

At the Swisscom Football Camp, 130 kids ran after the footballs and hunted for goals. They improved their technique with specific exercises, played matches against each other and, if interested, completed specific goalkeeper training, with fun always being the priority. They experienced many highlights. Lian Hasler (7) from Rorschacherberg says: “This is my third time here because I can always learn something new.”

Elia Arizanov, 11, from Rorschach has already taken part many times and sums it up with satisfaction: “It’s just fun to play football with friends. We do cool things, the food is great and the overall package is just right.” The “Swisscom Super Games” were particularly popular, in which the children completed various tasks – these included football golf, shot measurement, dribbling, target shooting, target passing, speed and also a bit of luck. However, most of the kids agreed on the highlight of the week: they were looking forward to the mini world championship (brack.ch) and were training diligently for it.

Fun and learning in the bike paradise

At the Bike World Camp, coordination and technique on the bike were worked on in a playful way. The 50 kids skied slalom, balanced over obstacles, explored the diverse trails and went full throttle on the pump track. Tom Pasztor (8) from Speicherschwendi says: “I learned to keep my balance, to drive slowly and quickly and to brake. Later I was able to jump over jumps and onto the pump track.” The children also learned to ride over roots and stairs and were taught cool tricks by their coaching team.

The children also gave their all on the ninja course.

Camp leader Fabian Jöhl is proud: “The great progress in this short time is remarkable. Starting with the basic skills – such as the gorilla position – up to the advanced levels of practicing wheelies and jumping.” All the camps were not just about sporting aspects, but also about social aspects, as 10-year-old Sinja Straub from Goldach reports: “I came to the camp with my friends, but I still made a lot of new friends.”

Over 400 camps throughout Switzerland

MS Sports is responsible for organizing the camp. The sports and events agency organizes over 400 camps in ten different sports in Switzerland. Whether polysport, biking, football, dancing, horse riding, tennis, chess, gaming, skiing & snowboarding or mindfulness – there is something for every child. Registration for the 2024 camps starts on December 1st of this year at www.mssports.ch. All children and young people (born 2009–2018) are welcome.
