Šmēdiņš Teams Up with Rising Star Auzinas for “Future” Tournament in Mallorca

Now the 36-year-old Šmēdiņš has joined forces with the twice-younger Gustavus Auzinas, who won both the European U18 and World U19 championships together with Fokerota last year. Both have applied to participate in the “Future” tournament, which will take place in Mallorca at the end of October. Jānis does not deny that his goal is to raise the young player, for whom this will be his debut in the “Pro Tour” competition. “I give advice. Let’s try already in training, maybe something will happen,” said Jānis.

When starting cooperation with Auzina, Šmēdiņš also received the support of the Latvian Olympic team, however, it is understandable that the last couple of years have been financially in the red. It once again encourages you to think about life after the end of your career. “I have saved something, I built a house for myself and my grandfather without loans, and I built another house for sale. However, it is not the case that after the end of my career I will be able to afford to do nothing for more than a couple of years…”
