MEN’S DIVISION 1 (ex series D)

GIRONE B

TRICESIMO-COLLINARE FAGAGNA 66-52

The hosts maintained the structure of last year’s winning team, but lost Colmano e D’Antonibut adding Comini who returns after a year to Pasian di Prato e Distracted from Majano. The newly promoted guests, however, present a renewed team with the losses of veterans Rovscek ed Ellerobut with the grafts of Zanelli from Cus Udine, Carving from Pozzuolo, Horse rider by Apu and the Spanish student Del Ojo Peña.

METAMORPHOSIS GRADISCA-GEATTI BASKET TIME 74-62

A match with a never predictable outcome, which saw several Gradisca gaps filled by the Udine players, until the final, decisive minutes. Giacomo Comelli’s performance was sumptuous with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 8 steals. Also worth mentioning is Giacomo Marcuzzi’s match with 4/4 from three points. Coach Claudio Ardessi dedicates the victory to Tonino Zorzi, who wanted to remember using the slate that belonged to Paron.

DOM GORIZIA-RONCHI 61-64

(20-17, 37-34, 47-50)

The Dom missed the opportunity to start the championship with a victory. After leading the match for three periods, there was a decline in the last 10 minutes of the game, which cost Graziani’s team dearly.

ALBA CORMONS-GONARS 77-71

Good first one! In front of a large audience, Arba started the season on the right foot and achieved a great victory.

CREDIFRIULI CERVIGNANO-MAJANESE 65-55

After the revolution of the championships by the FIP, ABC Cervignano was forced to give up participating in the single Serie C championship and focus everything on the young players of the youth academy in a category that can give them the right space to grow. This first match of the first round was also the last played in the historic sports hall in Piazzale Lancieri d’Aosta given its imminent closure.

GROUP C

SAN VITO TRIESTE-AZZURRA TRIESTE 57-38

Winning debut for Suzzi & co. after a not very spectacular match and with several errors on both sides.

The home team started well and ended the first half at 15-7 thanks to baskets by Grimaldi (9) and Cernivani (9). The second quarter ends with a substantial draw (partial score of 11-9), but is characterized by several turnovers and defenses that get the better of the attacks. In the second half De Denaro (12) scored his first points in the yellow-blue jersey, and at the end of the match was one of the best together with Cigliani (20 rating with 7 assists). After the long interval Crotta (9) allows San Vito to build a good margin of advantage; with a partial of 18-10 we go to the last quarter with a reassuring 44-26. The advantage allows coach Barzelatto ample rotations with the promising debut of the 2007 class Tessaris (6 points for him!) and Giurgevich as well as the 2004 class Porcorato.

BASKETBALL 4 TRIESTE-INTERCLUB MUGGIA 69-56

(10-22, 23-35, 46-44)

The home team christened their new parquet (Altura’s Don Milani) and were subdued in the first half, appearing opaque at shooting in the presence of a more inspired Interclub, so much so that they were deservedly ahead at the long break. Then the B4T increases its intensity, while Muggia gets stuck first in the shot and so the decisive overtaking takes place.

BASKETBALL TRIESTE-SANTOS 38-45

(12-13, 22-23, 31-33)

The hosts enter the match with a roster made up mostly of Under 17 boys, while the guests instead rely on the usual historic core.

The start of the match was yellow-green with a 7-0 run in the first possessions of the match, to which the opponents promptly responded with triples and mid-range shots. Prelog’s team managed to get their noses back only at the end of the half by taking advantage of Gabriele Crevatin’s centimeters in the paint (12 – 13 at 10′). In the second quarter the two teams struggle enormously to find the way to the basket, especially with long-range shots. The red and whites try to put a few possessions between themselves and their opponents by taking advantage of their greater athleticism, but a couple of successful penetrations by the Santos guards keep the distances unchanged at half-time (22 – 23). Upon returning from the long break, the shooting percentages remained very low on both sides of the pitch and the gap between the two teams remained minimal even at the end of the third quarter, as evidenced by the score of 31 – 33 in the thirtieth minute. In the fourth and final half Santos manages to break free from the arc, managing for the first time since the start of the match to score a partial that gives the guests some breathing room. In the final, the match becomes tougher from a physical point of view, also due to a rather permissive refereeing rule, and the greater experience allows the yellow-greens to manage the pace of the game until the final siren.

VENEZIA GIULIA BASKET-BOR RADENSKA 56-76

(12-18, 31-39, 51-57)

The opponents of the moment hold their own for a long time, above all thanks to the skill of the precise Lazzari, former CUS also in Serie C1. However, the guests took to the pitch focused, tough in defense and inspired even in the finishing phase. The ballistic performance is good but the patterns that lead to clean shots are also good. In moments of difficulty the young Finatti removes more than a few chestnuts from the fire, especially skilled in three-point shooting, Brancati also very good in directing. Coach Krčalić uses all the men available, the first team debut of the fifteen-year-old Savoia was also positive.

BASKETBALL MONFALCONE-SERVOLANA OFM LUSSETTI 52-73

(14-11, 19-22, 9-26, 8-14)

A two-faced Lussetti still takes home the pink score from the “away” in Monfalcone. A first half played with a certain sufficiency, with too many turnovers, few rebounds and major distractions in defense allows the hosts to remain in contact with the Trieste players, often finding second and even third opportunities in attack.

During the long break coach Gregori grooms his athletes and the team that appears on the field again in the third period is a completely different team. Defensive pressure and quick counterattacks allow the guests to build a comfortable gap, which widens as the match progresses.

Nothing to do for the “construction workers” who, in the second half, do not easily find the way to the basket.

Given the large advantage, coach Gregori also gives space to the young players, and we see Pertot and Ojo on the pitch, young promises on whom the Trieste team is betting a lot.
