I Carabinieri of the Rome Radiomobile Unit, on their own initiative, arrested a crime suspect 68 year old Italian on charges of attempted murder.

On the night of September 26, at approximately 3.45 am, following a call to 112, the Carabinieri intervened in via Casilina Vecchia where they found an injured person on the ground, helped by a woman.

The woman was plugging a deep wound under the left armpit of the man, identified as a 28-year-old from Senegal, without a fixed abode, who was then rescued by 118 personnel and transported by ambulance, in code red, to the San Giovanni hospital, where he was hospitalized with a reserved prognosis.

From the first investigations carried out by the Carabinieri and thanks to the information provided by the woman, a local resident, it emerged that the 28-year-old had a heated argument with another man, recognized by the woman as he lived not far away and identified as the 68-year-old. The woman would have only witnessed the violent argument, during which another black woman was also present who was trying to calm her down, and not her wounding because it occurred a few moments later inside a courtyard. The suspect initially threatened the 28-year-old with a compressed air gun, wounding him in the hand after having fired some shots, and with a taserand then hit him with a knife under the armpit.

The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of Rome, following the indications acquired, reached the suspect’s home and stopped him.

After feigning an initial moment of surprise and when the Carabinieri found and seized the 50 caliber compressed air pistol, the knife with a freshly washed 10cm blade, hidden in a drawer of the bedside table in the bedroom, the man assuming what happened. He said he had injured the foreign citizen during an argument that broke out after he had his car stolen smartphoneaccording to him, by the black woman who was in the company of the injured man, unidentified because she had left before the military arrived.

The investigating judge of the Court of Rome validated the arrest and ordered the 68-year-old to be placed in precautionary custody in prison.
