The “Panthers” lost to the Boston “Bruins” team in overtime with a score of 2:3 (2:0, 0:1, 0:1, 0:1).
Balinsky played 14 minutes and 47 seconds, of which 28 seconds were in the majority and 13 seconds were in the minority. The Latvian defender has one shot on goal, three power plays, one blocked shot and a negative efficiency coefficient of -1.
In the first period, Aleksandrs Barkov and Sam Reinhardt put the “Panthers” in the lead with 2:0, however, in the continuation, only the hosts scored goals. In the fourth minute of the second period, Brad Marchan made it 1:2, in the eighth minute of the third period, Charlie McAvoy equalized the result, and in the fourth minute of extra time, Pavel Zaha secured the victory for “Bruins”.
The home team’s goalkeeper Linus Ullmarks managed 35 shots from the “Panthers” hockey players, helping the Boston team get points in the ninth game in a row since the beginning of the season. In the opposite goal, Sergej Bobrovskis saved 23 of 26 home shots.
“Panthers” are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with nine points in eight games.
Meanwhile, the “Blue Jackets” lost to the Dallas “Stars” team 3:5 (2:1, 0:1, 1:3) on the road. In this duel, in 57 minutes and 43 seconds, Merzlikin dealt with 28 of 32 opponents’ shots, saving 87.5% of the shots. The home team scored one goal when the Latvian goalkeeper was replaced by the sixth player.
Merzlikin was beaten already in the 27th second, when Thomas Harley made an accurate shot, but until the end of the first period, “Blue Jackets” managed to get a 2:1 lead – Dmitry Voronkov and Damon Syverson scored accurately, each scoring their first goals of the season.
In the second period, Rope Hintz equalized for the home team, but at the beginning of the third period, Matt Duchaine already put the “Stars” in the lead. Yevgenii Dadonov beat Merzlikin again in the 53rd minute of the match, but less than four minutes later, Wyatt Johnson sent the puck into an empty net. In the 18th minute of the third period, Sean Kurali scored one goal for “Blue Jackets”, but the guests could not escape from the loss.
“Blue Jackets” are in 15th place in the Eastern Conference with eight points in nine games.
Both “Panthers” and “Blue Jackets” will play their next games on Thursday. The team represented by Balinsky will meet Detroit “Red Wings” as guests, while Merzlikin’s club will host Tampa Bay “Lightning” at home.
