A few weeks before the official conclusion of the season, Montpellier hosts this weekend i European Judo Championships 2023. From Friday 3 to Sunday 5 November the Sud de France Arena will award 14 overall individual continental titlesafter Georgia’s triumph in the team event at the European Games in Krakow.
Also up for grabs is a maximum of 700 points (reserved for winners of each category) which are very important for the Olympic qualification rankings towards the Paris 2024 Games. Italy is aiming high and will present itself in the French resort with a delegation of 17 athletes, following some forfeits which partially changed the composition of the blue roster.
Assunta Scutto in the 48 kg, Odette Giuffrida in the 52 kg, Alice Bellandi in the 78 kg, Manuel Lombardo in the 73 kg and Christian Parlati in the 90 kg represent the most concrete medal cards of the Italian expedition, waiting to know the outcome of the draw in program Thursday afternoon. Elios Manzi, Martina Esposito and Gennaro Pirelli are absent due to injury.
