Manchester City Overtakes Manchester United with Record-Breaking Home Win Streak

Manchester – Manchester City overtook Manchester United. Man City now has a record that previously belonged to MU.

This happened after Man City won against Brighton & Hove Albion. A 2-1 win for City resulted in a record.

The Man City vs Brighton duel in the Premier League continued at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (21/10) evening WIB. The Citizens took a two goal lead through Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.

Brighton managed to reduce the deficit through Ansu Fati’s goal. However, the visiting team was unable to add another goal.

This result extends City’s winning streak at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s troops have now recorded 21 consecutive wins at home in all competitions.

Reported by Opta, this record makes City the Premier League team with the longest streak of home wins in all competitions. City passed Manchester United’s record of 20 consecutive home wins in 2010-2011.

“This is a difficult match and I think how we played in the first half was extraordinary. Different from the second half. We have to work hard and show fighting spirit,” said City defender John Stones to Sky Sports quoted detikSport.

“We lost three times in the previous four games so we know we have to fight. The struggle and spirit of not wanting to lose means a lot to us. Every player contributed.”

This victory took Manchester City to the top of the Premier League standings with 21 points from 10 matches. They are currently superior on goal difference over Arsenal who have the same number of points.
