In the end, Daniil Medvedev turned the match around against a strong Sebastian Korda. Even the start didn’t go according to the expectations of the fourth in the world rankings. Korda used his second break chance to take a 2-0 set lead, which Medvedev was able to equalize a little later. With the score at 5:6, the Russian top player fell behind by 0:40, but shortly afterwards made his debut. With the sixth set ball, Korda managed to take the lead in the set.

The American also appeared stable in the second set. Break chances on both sides remained unused. So the tiebreak had to bring a decision and it was in favor of Daniil Medvedev, who was able to reduce his error rate as the playing time increased. So one break chance in the third set was enough to decide the game.

In the end, Sebastian Korda failed after a strong performance only because he was not able to fully maintain his good level in the first two sets and at times he did not act consistently enough. The American was only able to take advantage of two of eleven break chances.

Alexander Bublik defeats Ben Shelton

The opponent in the round of 16 is Alexander Bublik, who defeated Ben Shelton in three sets. Bublik initially fell behind in the set, but was able to equalize through the tiebreak in the second set. In the end, the Kazakh won 3:6, 7:6(2), 6:4 and made it after 2:11 hours. the move into the next round is perfect.
