King of the Ring Returns with Spectacular 12th Edition

King of the Ring is back in action 4 years after its last version. The kickboxing meeting will come back to life this Saturday with a 12th edition which offers 12 fights at the Tennis Couvert d’Ajoie in Porrentruy. The pandemic does not appear to have had a negative effect on the event. “According to the pre-sales, it’s going to be a great edition, a very good edition even,” rejoices Farid Remini. The head of the organization expects 1,500 spectators. The public will be treated to more fights than usual this year with 12 duels compared to the usual 10. “We went to meetings abroad and we saw that the young locals were having coaching fights before the official evening. I thought it was a very good idea,” explains the former boxer. Fans will be largely in the spotlight with two thirds of the posters reserved for them. “I noticed that they often give themselves much more than professionals. It gives Jura boxers a chance,” says the Bruntrutain police officer.

In addition to the regional ones, this 12th edition will highlight the Paris Research and Intervention Brigade, the BRI. Its friendly will be represented by 8 members on Saturday evening. “We invited them because we were all affected by the events of 2015 in Paris, particularly at the Bataclan,” explains Farid Remini. A film will be broadcast to explain the work of these men. “They certainly don’t think of themselves as heroes, they are incredibly humble,” says Ajoulot.

The fights will start at 6:30 p.m. Jurassiens Ally Verfaillie, Laurianne Merz, Bruno Quiquerez, Joao Santos, Mike Petignat, Jordan Comte, Bastien Schlüchter and Nolann Venzin will enter the ring. /clo-msc
