Ländle ace Joel Schwärzler has reached the semi-finals of the ITF J500 tournament in Osaka (Jp). The harder defeated Tianhui Zhang (Chn) 6:7(5), 7:6(8), 6:2, having to fend off two match points in the second set. “The first two sets were a little modest,” said coach Jürgen Melzer, “the third was decent. But it wasn’t a good day in general, which makes me all the more pleased that he was able to prevail.” In the semi-finals today, the number two seed will face Rei Sakamoto (Jpn/3).
