The Füchse Berlin extend their lead in the table with a clear win in the top game. Magdeburg continues its run and takes second place. Flensburg can finally celebrate their first away win. The highlights in the video.

The Füchse Berlin remain the measure of all things in the handball Bundesliga and achieved their tenth win in their tenth game. The Berliners won the top game against second-placed MT Melsungen with 37:31 (17:15). The hosts’ best thrower in front of 9,000 spectators in the sold-out Max Schmeling Hall was Lasse Andersson with eleven goals. Timo Kastenig was the most successful at Melsungen with seven goals.

From the start it was an intense and fast game. Melsungen initially got off to a better start because they always found solutions in attack. The foxes, on the other hand, made a few missed throws and were initially only slightly behind.

In the 18th minute, Melsungen’s David Mandic was injured and had to be carried off the field. The Foxes then got into the game better – especially superstar Mathias Gidsel. And keeper Dejan Milosavljev also shone with a few saves. After almost 22 minutes, Lasse Andersson gave the hosts the lead for the first time in the game (13:12).

And the Berliners continued seamlessly after the break. With a 5:2 run they moved ahead to 22:17. But then they made some unusual technical errors, which Melsungen promptly punished and reduced the score to 22:23. However, the Foxes showed strong nerves and, cheered on by the loud audience, increased their strength once again towards the end of the game. So it was a clear home win.

Magdeburg is the new first pursuer

SC Magdeburg has worked its way up to second place in the handball Bundesliga. Despite a mixed performance, the Elbestadt team won at TVB Stuttgart on Sunday with 31:25 (13:11) and are three points behind the league leaders Füchse Berlin, who have no loss points. Magdeburg’s best goalscorer was Michael Damgaard with eight goals.

The game began with three saves in a row from Stuttgart’s national goalkeeper Silvio Heinevetter and an early Magdeburg deficit. After Daniel Pettersson’s 1:3 (7th), Magdeburg was in the game and former Stuttgart player Oscar Bergendahl scored the first SCM lead (6:5/13th). In a disjointed game, coach Bennet Wiegert had to appeal to his team: “I want to see more killer instinct in attack.” The Champions League winner took this to heart at times and took the lead into the break.

Even after the break, the SCM couldn’t find its game and, like recently, had to rely too much on individual actions in attack. Stuttgart equalized (17:17/38th), but then Magdeburg pulled ahead by four goals (24:20/45th) and slowly got the game under control. Stuttgart tried everything again, but even with the seventh field player, the Swabians could not avert Magdeburg’s victory.
