Guatemalan Badminton Shines at Pan American Games Santiago 2023

Guatemalan badminton gave a positive note this Sunday during the second day of competition of the XIX edition of the Pan American Games Santiago 2023a day in which Guatemala remains only with the silver medal achieved on Saturday by Alejandra Higueros, in the women’s individual poomsae of Taekwondo.

Skeet endings

In her first Pan American Games, Emily Padilla shone in the women’s individual skeet (hunting gun shooting) by qualifying for the final. Unfortunately, in the fight for the medals she was last of the six classified athletes. Padilla competed against rivals from Chile, Mexico, the United States, Brazil and Peru.

Gaby Martínez started her participation on the right foot by defeating Costa Rican Jimena Gómez 3-0 (11-5, 11-2 and 11-4) in the round of 16 of women’s racquetball.

But in the women’s doubles category, the Guatemalan couple made up of María Renee Rodríguez and Gaby Martínez will compete in the semifinals after eliminating the Chilean duo Muñoz/Mansilla 3-0 in the quarterfinals. This Monday, they will face the Bolivian couple Angelica Barrios and Jenny Daza, for a ticket to the final.
