The story is reported by the Daily Mail. A witness tells how she saw “a white rat with glittering red eyes” in the cabin when she wanted to go to the toilet. After the crew was called in to catch the rat, an otter was also found walking around.
After landing in Taipei, the A320 and all luggage were thoroughly searched by a team from The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency. During the search, the team found a box with many more animals, including 28 turtles.
The animals have of course been seized and the alleged smuggler is being prosecuted.
