Dominating Performance: UJC Dornbirn Wins 19 Gold Medals at Vorarlberg Judo State Championships

The state judo championships took place in Schruns at the weekend.

Dornbirn. The judokas from UJC Dornbirn secured 19 gold medals at the last Vorarlberg Judo State Championships in Schruns. Thrills and exciting competitions – this year’s state individual championships, which took place at the Schruns middle school, offered all of this. From the youngest talents in the U10 class to the general class, judokas from the entire region fought thrilling battles on the mat. The UJC Dornbirn emerged as a big winner, as they ultimately brought home no fewer than 19 gold medals and 16 runner-up titles.

Saturday belonged to the young talents, including the U10, U14 and U18. In the U10 class, Luis Höfel took first place, followed by his club colleague Luis Baurenhas in second place. Dornbirn dominated the U12 class with a total of ten participants. Here Luis Höfel, Pascal Steinwidder and Nimrod Vadas secured the gold medals, while Abdullah Alekov, Benjamin Höfel, Eliah Fartek and Josef Plankel won the silver medals.

The U14 class was a celebration for Dornbirn, as all seven participants from the club won medals. Emely-Rose Schneider, Elon Joven, Nimrod Vadas, Murat Berger and Edis Subasic took gold, while Benjamin Höfel and his brother Luis took home the silver medals.

Dornbirn was also unbeatable in the U16 and U18 teams. Emely-Rose Schneider, Johanna Kosel and Nadir Sungurov won the gold medals in the U16 class, while Simon Canal and Nadir Sungurov triumphed in the U18 class. Silver went to Johanna Kosel and Ahmet Basar.

The general class also provided plenty of sparkle as Amina Abdulagatova, Matteo Gruber, Leon Nussbaumer and David Böhler secured four gold medals for Dornbirn. Amina Abdulagatova, Simon Canal, Pia Milz and David Böhler rounded off the successful weekend with second places.

Last Bundesliga home round

The Vorarlberg state individual championships in judo were a celebration of sport and the competitive spirit and UJC President Reinhold Böhler concluded: “It can continue like this, I’m already looking forward to Saturday, then the last round of the Bundesliga against the front runners will take place.” The UJC Dornbirn will meet the Judo Union Kirchham on Saturday, October 20th from 7 p.m. in the MS Bergmannstrasse and is looking forward to a large audience cheering on the local judokas.
