Controversy over Referee Decision in KV Kortrijk-Club Brugge Match

The international match has only just ended when there is already discussion in our Belgian competition about a decision by the referee. During KV Kortrijk-Club Brugge, goalkeeper Simon Mignolet received a yellow card for a foul on attacker El Idrissy, but didn’t he deserve a red card? KVK coach Glen De Boeck certainly thought so.

The images:

Mignolet arrived just too late to play the ball and tackled the broken Kortrijk attacker Mounaim El Idrissy just outside the penalty area. The Blue-Black goalkeeper was not the last man, but the goal was of course empty.

Referee Kevin van Damme decided to give a yellow card, a decision that Kortrijk did not agree with. Just before half time, coach Glen De Boeck went to the referee to ask for advice.
