Ajax’s Victory Overshadowed by Injury to Linesman in Classic with Feyenoord

Ajax did win the classic with Feyenoord with the O18 team. The team from Amsterdam were too strong for the team from Rotterdam with 3-0, but that was not what was discussed most. That was the injury to the linesman, which meant that the match had to be temporarily stopped.

After just under forty minutes the game had to be stopped. Although this is not unusual in matches between Ajax and Feyenoord, this time it was not about chants or throwing beer, but about an injury to the linesman. Because no one from either club was allowed to flag, a new linesman had to be found.

This was eventually found and the match, which seemed to have already been decided 2-0 at the time of the stoppage, was fortunately able to be completed. After a wonderful Zidane-like turn, Don O’niel scored his second goal of the evening, after Kayden Wolff had scored the opening goal. Damian van der Vaart participated for half an hour in Ajax’s victory.
