Changes to Lnp Italian Cup Format for A2 and B Series: Access to Competition Altered

The format of the Lnp Italian Cup has changed for the A2 and B series. In particular, the access to the competition which will take place on 16 and 17 March, in a venue yet to be established, has changed. This year, only the top two teams from the Green and Red groups will have access. Not only will they no longer be the top four classified as in the last editions, but they will be the top two at the end of the first phase and no longer at the end of the first round. The names of the qualifiers will therefore only be known in February, after the 22 days of the championship. Once the quarter-finals have been abolished, the Final Four will feature cross-over semi-finals and the grand final. It will therefore be a “streamlined” edition, after the success achieved a year ago in Busto Arsizio, in the Final Four organized by Pallacanestro Cantù, of Vanoli Cremona.

Meanwhile today, for the sixth day of the championship, after the two advance matches yesterday evening, four matches will be played, all scheduled for 6pm: Turin-Vigevano, Treviglio-Monferrato, Agrigento-Luiss Roma and Rieti-Juvi Cremona.

Cantù is looking carefully at the match against Turin, their next opponent in the midweek round on Wednesday 1 November: S.Bernardo returns to the PalaFitLine at 6pm, to face another big team from the Green group. In this tour de force, Cagnardi’s team will once again travel – by plane – for the away match to Agrigento on Sunday 5th at midday.
