I go back to the moment that the boy promised himself from his career, when he entered the senior extra league at the age of less than sixteen. What dreams and goals did he have, what does he want to achieve in hockey. And I think Tomáš Plekanec has done absolutely everything. And maybe it even exceeded his expectations.
He can be extremely satisfied with his career. I don’t know if he can be disappointed in anything when he remembers the dreams he had as a boy. Yes, he didn’t win the gold at the World Championships, but I don’t know if he sees that as a regret.

I think he sees his career as a whole. Participating in 11 World Cups, having over 1000 starts in the NHL, playing until forty; these are the three basic things that, when taking stock, you say to yourself: “Look, it’s good!”. Tomáš may miss the golden plate, but it is not essential considering what he has experienced and accomplished with hockey.
I agree that it is always a sad sight to see a player who retires for health reasons. On the other hand, it is opening the door to ordinary life. We hockey players, who have played for such a long time, have actually known nothing but hockey and winter sports for most of our lives. Now Tomáš Plekanek is waiting for the second part of his life, and I think he can be successful in it just as much as in hockey. I wish him good health, a happy family in the years to come, and may he help Czech hockey in ways other than winning or winning medals.
In the extra league, we are watching the efforts of Mladá Boleslav to get back into the game. I have a few points about the Skating Club that strike me. If we look at the wins after 60 minutes, Bolka has only one less than last season’s finalist Hradec Králové. But it is sad that there are 11 Boleslav losses, which means that the club is not able to win draws and take an extra point in the setup.

I am looking for the reason why this is so and I am asking if Boleslav has a player who is able to lift the team, as Martin Růžička can do today or Richard Žemlička and Josef Beránek in the past? Does Boleslav have someone like that? I do not think so.
What can happen next? Definitely some bonding of the team, when the guys say it to each other in the pub and move on. There can be (and probably will be) changes in the line-up and the search for additional players. After the end of assistant Haken, there may be a change of head coach Kalous.

But does all this make sense if you don’t believe that you have someone who will put everything together? Who will be in charge and the team will fall apart? If you don’t have someone like that, you can do whatever you want and it still won’t help.
Nothing is working in Boleslav at the moment. And then comes exactly what is usual for any team at the bottom of the table. That’s how individual statistics are extracted: “I’m playing well, this colleague is bad and you should watch him”. The main thing now has to take place in the collective in the cabin. In order to create the core of the team, which does not want to play last place and, on the contrary, wants to fight for a move up the table every match. This is much more fundamental than changing the coach.
