Anita Cantini: A Rising Star in Italian Judo

First the Italian title, won together with her Academy teammates during the last edition of the Italian judo championships. Then the medal for the most precious metal, won during the European Cup held in Slovenia. And finally, another European medal this time only missed, missed due to an ankle injury which prevented her from reaching the semi-finals of the greatest continental trophy to compete for the top spot. In short, Anita Cantini can draw a positive assessment of the last period, at least in terms of results. The judoka working at the Prato Academy has in fact just returned from a series of competitions in which she was able to confirm her competitiveness at high levels. Starting from the last in chronological order: at the end of the European Open Prague, which was archived in the Czech Republic, she in fact placed fifth. “Anita proves to be one of the best athletes in her category on the international field – commented coach Fabio Barni – and with this placing she acquires further points to climb the ranking list”.

Cantini had also arrived in the Czech capital on the strength of the continental title recently obtained in the “-57 kg” category in Podcetrtek, at the end of a clear and unhesitating path to the final. And in the meantime she, together with her teammates Anja Stangar, Benedetta Capponi, Anka Pogacnik and Martina Cocco, had managed to climb onto the highest roof in Italy, guaranteeing the Prato association success in the “A2 category” championship. The Academy will therefore continue to focus on her, with the common objective of further increasing the medal tally in the final seasonal challenges and closing 2023 in the best possible way.
