Once again, Tlaxcala will have a State Archery Association to train athletes from initial schools to high performance who represent the entity in national and international events.
The first step to establish the association occurred last Thursday, when the meeting was held between the World Archery Mexico federation and the state coaches of the discipline, where the creation of the organization in Tlaxcala was determined.
The meeting took place at the Tlahuicole stadium, located on Guillermo Valle Boulevard, in the city of Tlaxcala, attended by Gabriel Ramos Rodríguez, president of World Archery Mexico; Daniel Moncayo Cervantes, in charge of the office of the Tlaxcala Sports Institute; Jorge Carrillo Romero, coach of the Inclusive Archery Development Center of the Polytechnic University of Tlaxcala Poniente region (Uptrep).
In addition, Cathia Valdés Islas, Paralympic archery athlete, attended; Leydi Mendieta George, coach of the Tlaxcala club of the discipline; among other figures who promote this sport in the entity, who agreed to formalize the work to form the State Archery Association in Tlaxcala.
This was the first approach with the Tlaxcala coaches and representatives of formed clubs, with the purpose of establishing a group that allows the development of this sport in the state; since the entity has had important events of national and international stature, such as the World Cup in October 2022, but there was no state organization.
Therefore, the first approach was successful in defining positions and the next step will be to document, continue the process and in approximately two months, before the World Archery Championship takes place, they must have the Tlaxcalan association formed.
“With the association we will grow this sport, one of the objectives is that next year Tlaxcala has a representative capable of competing in national and international competitions, such as the Pan American Games or the Caribbean Games,” said Jorge Carrillo, coach at Uptrep. ).
Finally, he shared that the main idea of establishing the association is to train quality archers and work from initiation clubs to professionals so that Tlaxcalan athletes reach a level of competition that allows them to attend competitions held on the continent and of international stature. .
