CSI Championship Brings Thrilling Mountain Biking and Martial Arts Action to Marsala and Caltagirone

The third regional round of the CSI championship was held in Marsala

of mountain biking, a stage proposed by the Acido Lattico company of Marsala. The race route, just over 4 kilometers per lap, was quite technical with numerous changes in gradient. The event was held at the Tumbarello nursery inside the quarries.

Many athletes at the starting line. Among these also the Saccense Tonino Bonifacio, registered with the Finestrelle Bikers of Santa Ninfa, who raced in his Master 6 category and who closed the competition in 1 hour, 8 minutes and 2 seconds at the end of a good timed performance. Bonifacio who is now preparing for the next competitive events.

And let’s move on to martial arts. Regional Championship in Caltagirone for the Beginners category and for the kata and kumite specialties. Also on stage is the Karate Judo Club of maestro Pippo Piazza. The athletes, accompanied by the coach Michele Catanzaro, obtained the following results.

In the kata seventh place for Francesco Cervelli; in women’s kumite Ilaria Tarolli and Anna Esposito Iadarestay third places; fifth positions, however, for Laura Santangelo and Alice Martorana; seventh Giulia Scandaglia and Carin Giovinco. In the men’s kumite Simone Cuffaro seventh, Daniele Di Liberto, Edoardo D’Asaro, Pietro Turano and Gioele Albanese eleventh. Francesco Cervelli, Ilaria Tarolli, Laura Santangelo, Giulia Scandaglia, Anna Iadaresta Esposito and Simone Cuffaro qualify for the Italian Championship which will take place in Rome from 1st to 2nd June. Michele Catanzaro, in the race, was assisted by the athlete Vincenzo Intererrante.
