Accusation of racism: HSV juniors leave the pitch early

Due to the international break, play in some football leagues is suspended. Test matches are played, including at the junior level. And there was a scandal last Friday. The A-Juniors of Hamburger SV accused their friendly opponent Arminia Bielefeld of a racist insult and left the pitch shortly before the end of the game.

A HSV player noticed an insult from an opponent during the game on Friday afternoon and pointed it out to the referee several times, a club spokesman said on Saturday.

The referee said that he did not notice the insult. The Hamburg team then left the field in the 87th minute of the game. “BILD” first reported on the incident.

Bielefeld defends itself against the accusation

When asked by the German Press Agency, Bielefeld said that the Arminia players would deny such a statement. “We are aware of the massive accusation made by the people of Hamburg. “We will speak to those involved as quickly as possible and collect information,” said the East Westphalians. “The facts so far are: Our players deny making any discriminatory statements. The referee didn’t notice anything. The assistant referees didn’t notice anything. Because the accusation is so serious, we of course want to clarify it thoroughly.”
