MANSFIELD — In all, 24 Richland County football players took home All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference for their amazing 2023 seasons.
The Shelby Whippets led with 11 honorees including four first-team selections. Eli Schwemley, Issaiah Ramsey, Brayden DeVito and Miles Swisher were names first teamers. Schwemley anchored the offensive line at center while DeVito, Ramsey and Swisher earned nods as skill players. DeVito went 146-for-223 with 2,717 yards and 23 touchdowns through the air while also running for 1,001 yards on 115 carries and 13 touchdowns.
Ramsey and Swisher were DeVito’s main targets. Ramsey caught 54 passes for 1,080 and eight touchdowns while Swisher caught 32 passes for 447 yards and a TD but stood out defensively with 67 tackles, 10 for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble.
Kasper Marten, Issiah Beck, Xadrin Ream, Casey Lantz, Nic Eyster and Skyler Winters were second team selections for the Whippets while Mason Vent earned honorable mention.
The Ontario Warriors put 10 on the All-MOAC list. The co-league champs were led by Bradyen Robinson, Grason Bias, Trey Booker, Bodpegn Miller and Chase Studer as first teamers. Robinson anchored the offensive line and stood out defensively with 54 tackles, 13 for a loss, three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Bias manned the defensive line with Robinson and had a monster season with 59 tackles, 21 for a loss, seven sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Trey Booker was one of the best kickers in the MOAC going 52-for-53 on extra points and 8-for-8 on field goals with a school-record 46-yarder in Week 10 against Highland. He was also dominant on defense with 65 tackles, 14 for a loss, five sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Miller had arguably the best season of any quarterback in Ontario football history going 132-for-207 for 2,004 yards and 17 touchdowns breaking the program record for yards in a single season and in a career. He also ran for 882 yards on 159 carries and 17 TDs. Studer was a standout two-way guy for the Warriors running for 870 yards on 159 carries and 13 TDs while also catching 14 passes for 157 yards and recording a team-high 70 tackles with seven for a loss, a sack and an interception.
Ryder Hendley, Landon Sowards, Quinton Frankhouse and Dylan Floyd were second team selections while Craig Powers was an honorable mention.
Clear Fork saw Jay Jackson and Kasey Swank earn second team honors while Evan Tahmalwash was an honorable mention.
