Without a star to Japan: Britt Herbots also passes for Olympic qualifying tournament with abdominal muscle injury | Yellow Tigers

Her absence against Turkey in the 1/8th finals of the European Championship was a bad omen, now Britt Herbots has to cancel definitively for the Olympic qualifying tournament in Japan.

The Yellow Tiger started the tournament with a minor abdominal muscle injury, but played the first four group matches against Hungary, Slovenia, Ukraine and Poland.

She was given some rest against top country Serbia, but the tear in her abdominal muscle was too big to take any further risks.

This also applies to the upcoming tournament. From next Saturday, September 16, the Belgian volleyball women will meet 7 top countries in the run-up to the Paris Games.

They open – without Herbots – against Bulgaria, followed by matches against Puerto Rico, Argentina, Peru, host country Japan, Brazil and Turkey.

Making it to the games will therefore be an extremely difficult task. The Belgians especially want to perform well against lower-ranked countries in order to gain points for the world ranking and improve their position.
