An ex-prisoner who recently returned from the war in Ukraine doused his sister in petrol and burned her alive following an argument over trivial reasons. This was reported by several Russian media, including Nizhny Novgorod Online, the newspaper from the region where the incident occurred. According to Baza, the man is Oleg Grechko, 55, a former Wagner Group fighter who recently returned from the ‘special operation’ and settled in his sister’s house in the city of Zavolzhye. On the evening of September 28, after an argument, “the former Wagner fighter became so angry that he poured gasoline on the woman and then set fire to the house. As a result, his sister died, while he was hospitalized with second and third degree burns on his hands. Immediately afterwards he was arrested and has already confessed everything.” In March 2022, explains Nizhny Novgorod Online, Grechko was sentenced to 11 years in a special regime colony for killing an acquaintance of his by stabbing him at least 12 times and then strangling him with the handle of a boiling pot. Grechko was released a year later, to go fight in Ukraine.
