Netflixan American streaming platform, announced that reached an agreement with the NFLthe professional American football league to broadcast the Christmas Day games of the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons.
“There are no live annual events, sporting or otherwise, that compare to the audiences that NFL football attracts. We are very excited that the NFL Christmas Day games are only on Netflix,” he said Bela Bajaria, director of content at Netflix.
The platform will broadcast this campaign exclusively the two clashes that the NFL scheduled for Wednesday, December 25 and assured that it will broadcast at least one on Christmas Day of the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
For a couple of years Netflix has broadcast series with league players like ‘Quarterback’, which in 2023 featured the quarterback of the champions Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes; Kirk Cousins, of the Minnesota Vikings; and Marcus Mariota, of the Washington Commanders.
‘Reciver’ will premiere this summer which will continue the journey through the league of star receivers Davante Adams, of the Las Vegas Raiders; Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings; George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers; and Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be the first professional sports league to partner with Netflix to bring live games to fans around the world,” he said. Hans Schroeder, NFL executive vice president of media distribution.
Last year there were three games held on Christmas Day that, according to league data, were among the 25 most watched television programs in all of 2023.
“The NFL at Christmas has become a tradition and the partnership with Netflix is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans,” stressed Hans Schroeder.
The pair of games scheduled for Christmas this year will be revealed later when the NFL unveils the full 2024 season schedule.
