US Open 2023: Exciting Matches on September 3rd and 4th in the Round of 16

The US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, has been taking place in New York since August 28th and will continue until September 10th. The numerous night sessions with floodlit games and the huge center court are what make New York so special. Arthur Ashe Stadium can accommodate a whopping 23,771 spectators.

For the Germans, Alexander Zverev, finalist in 2020, who missed the tournament last year due to injury, probably has the best chance of going far in the tournament.

There is a big change this year in the broadcasting rights, because after many years the tournament will no longer be shown on free TV on Eurosport, but on the sports streaming service Sportdeutschland.TV – but the German tennis legend is still on board Boris Becker.

For men, the eyes are mainly on two players: Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. The Spanish world number one starts as the defending champion. Serbian Djokovic could win his 24th Grand Slam title.

The two superstars, who recently fought two epic finals, can only meet in the final. In Wimbledon, Alcaraz won against Djokovic in five sets, and at the Masters in Cincinnati, the Grand Slam record winner was ahead after three contested sets.

The top favorite for women is the Polish title holder Iga Swiatek, who triumphed in straight sets against Ons Jabeur last year.

At best, Zverev, number 12 on the seeding list, should have outsider chances – but after winning the tournament in Hamburg and reaching the semi-finals in Cincinnati, the 26-year-old is going to New York with a lot of self-confidence. The German women have already been eliminated from the tournament.

The men’s match on September 3rd and on the night of September 4th includes Novak Djokovic’s match against Borna Gojo. Djokovic is the big favorite in the duel, but in the third round the Serb already showed nerves and had to make up a two-set deficit in a show of strength.

In the women’s category, world number one Iga Swiatek faces Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
