US Basketball Team Faces Absences Due to Illness in Bronze Medal Match Against Canada at 2023 World Cup

The United States team has announced the absences “due to illness” of its players Brandon Ingram, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Paolo Banchero to play for the bronze medal at the 2023 World Cup against Canada, which will be today Sunday starting at 10:30 hours at the headquarters in Pasay, Jakarta.

With Jaren Jackson Jr. out of the lineup and also with the loss of Paolo Banchero, it is assumed that Utah Jazz player Walker Kessler will start as the starting center. However, coach Steve Kerr could bet on the Small Ball with Brunson and Haliburton as starting point guards along with Edwards, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart, to cite an example.

Both teams reach the consolation final after losing their respective matches in the Semifinals against Serbia and Germany despite being the favorites of the tournament. However, Bogdanovic and the suffocating defense put up by Pesic were able to defeat Jordi Fernández’s men, and Andreas Obst with 24 points and Franz Wagner with 22 points surprised the Americans by a tight 111-113.
