Compared to Team Europe, which competes without Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champions lead 4-0. The world selection only left the Europeans to win one set.

Ben Shelton (USA) won against Arthur Fils (FRA) 7:6 (7:4), 6:1, Francisco Cerundolo (ARG) won against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (ESP) 6:3, 7:5, and Felix Auger-Aliassime (CAN) defeated Gaël Monfils (FRA) 6:4, 6:3. At the end, the US doubles Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe got the fourth point (6:3, 4:6, 10:6 against Andrej Rublew/Fils).

Europe has not yet been written off

The Laver Cup, an invention of Roger Federer and his agency Team8, is being held for the 6th time. Europe won the first four duels before Team World triumphed for the first time in 2022 – at the emotional end of the “maestro’s” career. Federer watched the games in Vancouver this year from the stands.

The Europeans have a chance of winning despite the clear deficit. Laver Cup mode rewards wins on days 2 and 3 with more points. 6 more singles and 2 doubles are on the schedule.
