Preview of NBA’s New Jerseys for the Upcoming Season

Year after year, NBA teams introduce new jerseys, and the upcoming season is no exception. We provide an overview of which new jerseys are already known.

First of all, a brief explanation of the various jerseys that are available in the NBA. There are now five different editions to distinguish between:

Association EditionIcon EditionStatement EditionCity EditionClassic Edition

Association Edition basically means the white home jersey, Icon is the traditional away jersey. Statement and City, on the other hand, are spin-offs with alternative colors and designs. The Classic Edition is self-explanatory; old editions that are mostly popular with fans are reissued here.

It should also be said that not every team presents new jerseys every year. The Icon and Association in particular usually stay for several years, while there are new City Edition jerseys every year.

Brooklyn Nets (City Edition)

Some color will come back into play for the Nets next season. The artist KAWS, real name Brian Donnelly, is responsible for the design, which is reminiscent of a mural with its colors and designs.

Indiana Pacers (City Edition)

Last year the Pacers celebrated the anniversary of their arena with their City Edition, and next season the City Edition will come in a dark gray and highlighter colors for the inscription

Charlotte Hornets (Classic Edition)

The Hornets are 35 years old, which is used as an opportunity to reissue an old classic. You really can’t go wrong here, this jersey is simply an evergreen. Now all we have to do is get better in terms of sport.

Miami Heat (City Edition)

It was only a matter of time before the Heat incorporated the word “culture” in some form. The first pictures of what the whole thing will look like recently leaked out. Simple black, a small Heat lettering plus bold white “Culture”.

Orlando Magic (Classic Edition)

Two stupid people, one thought? Like the Hornets, the Magic are turning 35 years old and the usual reflex seems to be a remake of a classic. And in the case of the Magic, the shirt is from the “Heart and Hustle” era between 1998 and 2003. Who doesn’t have to think of T-Mac at this point?

Minnesota Timberwolves (City Edition)

Since Minnesota is a state and not a city, the City Edition is dedicated to the state. We’ll just quote the press release here: “We celebrate lake life in Minnesota. The jersey is inspired by the summer fun that can only be found in the land of 10,000 lakes.”

Golden State Warriors (City Edition)

The Warriors, on the other hand, probably keep it simple. As this leak shows, the Dubs will primarily wear black with the inscription San Francisco. A sun with eight rays can also be seen in the waistband, similar to the one found on the flag of the Philippines. This isn’t really surprising either, since in addition to the Chinese, a lot of Filipinos emigrated to the Bay Area.

Phoenix Suns (Icon)

The Suns are the most eager so far when it comes to new jerseys. The new Icon jersey in purple was introduced at the beginning of August, which is more or less a refresh of the jerseys from the early 90s. Nostalgia meets anticipation of the future – at least that’s how the Suns want to sell it.

Phoenix Suns (Association)

And then there is the Association jersey, which is basically the home jersey. It has the same elements as the icon version, but is primarily white.

Phoenix Suns (City Edition)

But two new pieces of material are not enough for the Suns. The City Edition will also be replaced, this will also be purple and have the “El Valle” logo. It’s not official yet, so there’s only this leak at this point that’s circulating through social media.

Sacramento Kings (Icon and Association Edition)

What Phoenix can do, we can do too, thought the Kings, who based their new jerseys on the 1994 rebrand.

Sacramento Kings (Statement)

But that’s not all. The statement jersey is a combination of the present and the glory days after the turn of the millennium, when the Kings were praised as the “Greastest Show on the Court”. Note the checkerboard-like squares on the sides of the jerseys.

New Orleans Pelicans (Statement)

The Pelicans are also making a statement and giving the red jersey that the Pels wore for many years a little update. What’s noticeable, of course, is that “Crescent City” is emblazoned on the jersey – as the crescent city, the nickname of New Orleans.
