The president of the Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubiales resigned this evening after weeks of storm for kissing the national team player Jennifer Hermoso without her consent. Rubiales published a letter on his social media profiles in the evening in which he announced his choice, speaking of a “disproportionate campaign”. “I will defend my honor – reads the post – I will defend my innocence. I have faith in the future. I have faith in the truth”. “After the rapid suspension made by FIFA, in addition to the rest of the procedures opened against me – writes Rubiales – it is clear that I will not be able to return to my place. Insisting on waiting and holding on will not bring any positive contribution either to the Federation or to football Spanish”.
