Serie A – Verona-Bologna 0-0 report cards: Montipò super, Karlsson unlucky, Ndoye wastes

Verona-Bologna, a match valid for the fourth day of Serie A, ended with a score of 0-0. Match refereed by Federico La Penna of Rome. With this result, Verona rises to 7 points in the standings and Bologna to 5. Below are the votes for the protagonists of the match.

Verona’s report cards

Lorenzo MONTIPÒ 7 – In the end it was he who avoided defeat against Verona: very good on two occasions on Karlsson, ready on Ndoye.

Giangiacomo MAGNANI 6 – He has some problems with the wild Karlsson, who twice risks hurting Verona with as many shots from outside.

Isak HIEN 6.5 – Precise in closing, elegant in ball and chain exits. He only misses Zirkzee once, but Ndoye pardons him. He would also find the goal, but unfortunately Bonazzoli is offside.

Pawel DAWIDOWICZ 6.5 – He must work hard to keep Ndoye at bay: overall he succeeds, despite a yellow card already received in the first half.

Marco FARAONI 6 – Not always very precise, but he makes up for it with his usual breath and experience (from 62′ Filippo TERRACCIANO 5.5 – He has to suffer in a Bolognese-style final)

Martin HONGLA 6 – The feet aren’t the best, but that’s nothing new. In the middle of the pitch, however, his combative style really shines through.

Michael FOLORUNSHO 6 – Deployed somewhat surprisingly in midfield by Baroni, no demerits and remains on the pitch even in pain (from 70′ Suat SERDAR sv)

Josh DOIG 6 – He does his thing for half an hour, then an injury puts him out of action (from 36′ Darko LAZOVIC 6 – He shows off some good ideas, even if we would always expect something more from him)

Cyril NGONGE 6 – Lively in the first half, although overall inconclusive. It drops after the break.

Ondrej DUDA 5.5 – Plays in the midfield and not in the middle of the pitch. And he does not offer an unforgettable performance (from the 70th minute Tomas SUSLOV sv)

Federico BONAZZOLI 6 – Generous and always on the move. He dialogues with his teammates, creates spaces, even if he doesn’t take advantage of the only chance available (from 62 ‘Milan DJURIC 5.5-Fight in vain)

Coach Marco BARONI 6 – Brings home a small point which puts them on the path to safety. At times we see an attacking Verona, before the sharp decline.

Bologna’s report cards

Lukasz SKORUPSKI 6 – He takes a goal from Hien, but Bonazzoli’s offside saves him. For the rest, he doesn’t have to make any particular saves.

Lorenzo DE SILVESTRI 6 – Solid. He doesn’t let himself be overwhelmed by Doig or even by Lazovic after the Serbian enters the field (from the 60th minute Stefan POSCH 6-De Silvestri’s work continues)

Sam BEUKEMA 6.5 – Sure. Verona doesn’t break through centrally. In the first half he also tries an appreciable shot from far away.

Jhon LUCUMÍ 6.5 – He was also good overall, especially in the second half after a first half with some trouble.

Victor KRISTIANSEN 6 – Forced to juggle between the various Pharaohs, Ngonge and Bonazzoli, he wobbles but has the merit of not collapsing (from the 80th minute Riccardo CALAFIORI sv)

Michel AEBISCHER 6 – Lights and shadows. So-so in the midfielder’s insertion work. However, his intervention was fundamental to deny Bonazzoli the advantage.

Remo FREULER 6 – He returns very badly to Serie A, with a wild shot that threatens to score Bonazzoli. Then, little by little, he becomes familiar with the match (from the 80th minute Nikola MORO sv)

Lewis FERGUSON 5.5 – He doesn’t shine in the first half, while he slightly increases his performance in the second. But he doesn’t reach the mark.

Dan NDOYE 5.5 – Runs on alternating current. He gives Dawidowicz a yellow card, but in the second half he trivially wastes the opening ball almost in front of Montipò (Giovanni FABBIAN sv from the 77th minute)

Joshua ZIRKZEE 6 – He uses the weapon of ball protection, but it’s not easy with Hien. On the only occasion in which he runs away from the Swede, Ndoye wastes.

Jesper KARLSSON 6.5 – He gets into gear during the match after a slow start, calling Montipò into a double great save. Then, somewhat surprisingly, Motta takes him off the field (from the 60th minute Riccardo ORSOLINI 5.5 – Doesn’t make a difference in the final)

Coach Thiago MOTTA 6 – The good ending is held tight, which counterbalances a difficult first half. But why remove Karlsson?
