Patrick Mahomes Restructures Contract to Stay Competitive in the NFL Salary Rankings

A little taste of coming back.

10 years of contract for 500 million dollars is a lot, but the competition is getting closer now that Joe Burrow signed for 55 million per season. To the point of leaving the last MVP in the rearview mirror. According to ESPN, the Chiefs have therefore reached an agreement with Patrick Mahomes to restructure the contract signed in 2020, and guarantee him 210.6 million guaranteed over the next four years.

A matter that had to be carried out, since the quarterback of Kansas City, defending champion, had fallen in the salary rankings after negotiations led by Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert or Jalen Hurts.

This is not an increase, but a redistribution of the sums owed, to maximize the income of the league’s star pitcher.

Mahomes is therefore expected to receive 56.85 million in 2023, 44.5 million in 2024, 50 million for 2025, and 56.76 million for 2026. For now his 2027 salary will amount to 59.2 million , and he will still have 261 million to collect according to the current agreement.

However, the two parties should return to the agreement by 2026 to keep the quarterback among the highest paid players in the league.
