The Italian Baseball Softball Federation (FIBS) of the Lombardy Regional Committee has started an exciting initiative called “Children in Serie A”aimed at increasing interest and participation in baseball and softball among young athletes.
With this program, young athletes will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with players from the top Italian leagues. The first meeting will be held on Sunday 12 May 2024 at the Kennedy Sport Center in Milan, promising a day of sport and fun that will hopefully attract new fans and players to the world of baseball and softball.
Thanks to this initiative, with prizes, the young athletes will support the three Serie A baseball clubs (Codogno, Milano ’46 and Senago) and the three Serie A2 softball clubs (Bollate, Caronno and Saronno) on the sidelines.
FIBS Lombardia launches “Children in Serie A” to actively participate in the matches
The “Children in Serie A” initiative will allow young people from all Lombardy sports clubs, in the MINI, U12, U13 and U15 categories, to actively participate in Serie A and Serie A2 matches. The athletes, dressed in their club uniform, will gather on the sports fields 45 minutes before the start of the matches to participate in various activities, including the playing of the national anthem and the chance for some lucky ones to throw the first balls of the match.
For young people the possibility of playing the role of batboys or batgirls
Young supporters will also be able to play the role of batboys o batgirls during matches, adding a personal touch to the racing experience. In addition, the host clubs have organized areas dedicated to younger fans, complete with entertainment activities such as baseball/softball games, batting tunnels and corners dedicated to the sale of merchandise and the celebration of trophies.
A further initiative, “Whoever brings a friend brings a treasure“, will encourage young athletes to bring friends to events, with special prizes for those who collect the most participation stamps. This will not only increase attendance at events, but will also strengthen community spirit among participants.
