Bologna – There is also a bit of Viterbo in the baseball championship.

On Saturday evening, UnipolSai-branded Fortitudo Bologna won the 14th Italian title in its history, a recognition that had been missing since 2020.

Manager Lele Frignani’s team played a practically perfect postseason: 3-0 against Ronchi dei Legionari in the quarter-finals, 4-0 against Parma in the semi-finals and 4-0 against San Marino in the final.

Among the protagonists of the biancoblù success there is also Maurizio Andretta, a pitcher from Viterbo born in 1998 who grew up in the Viterbo Rams’ nursery.

The player has been in Bologna since 2021 and in the same year he made his debut in the Elite national team (at the European Championships in Piedmont). He made his debut in Serie A1 in 2019 in Castenaso after making the leap in quality in 2021 with Montefiascone. With the Rams Viterbo, in the first team, he played more than 30 games from 2014 to 2017 (in federal Serie A and A2).
