Monaco’s Dominance Squandered in Draw Against Lorient

Monaco wasted against Lorient (2-2). Dominant for most of the match this Sunday, the Monegasques had possession, occupied the opposing camp and created the best chances. Adi Hütter’s men, however, were not incisive enough against the Lorient players who had withdrawn into their camp, but were capable of collective offensive bursts like the one which allowed them to equalize in the very last moments of the match.

Monaco rate the car

The Monegasques will undoubtedly harbor regrets, as the scenario of the match was favorable to them until the last minutes of play. The team led by Hütter has been up to its standards since the start of the season. Midfielder Denis Zakaria – Youssouf Fofana worked very well, the latter notably distinguishing himself by disrupting the opposing midfield with his placement between the lines. The French international also knew how to create danger with strikes or very good passes, like this little one-touch dive for Aleksandr Golovin to open the scoring (17th).

The ASM defense also did a very good job, particularly on set pieces and in heading play, thanks to the size of its central three. Caio Henrique stood out for interesting activity and several good crosses. Returning in place of a rather discreet Ben Yedder, Folarin Balogun was untenable. He multiplied the runs, the provocations with the ball and even gave his team the advantage in the 69th after a good service from Golovin in the area and a perfectly managed one-on-one.
