Igns Brazdeikis, a player of the Lithuanian and ULEB Euroleague club Kaunas “Žalgiris” is close to reaching an agreement with the Euroleague vice-champions “Olympiacos” of Piraeus, reports “Basketnews.com”.

Having not established himself in the NBA before, the 24-year-old Brazdeikis moved to Europe last year and signed a 1+1 contract with “Žalgiris” – that is, after the first season, the Kaunas club had the option to continue the cooperation. This happened last summer and both parties agreed on the extension of the contract, but in the near future one of the leaders of “Žalgiris” will most likely move to Greece. The Lithuanian club will receive a buyout fee for the deal.

In the past season, Brazdeikis averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35 Euroleague games, which was the second best score in the team. “Žalgiris” made it to the playoffs, but stopped in the quarterfinals.

Playing in the number two and number three positions, Brazdeikis was also one of the leaders of the Lithuanian national team at the World Cup, becoming the third most productive player in the national team with an average of 11.0 points in eight games. He also has 3.5 turnovers and 2.5 assists. Brazdeikis was injured in the fight for fifth place against Latvia and did not finish the game.

It should be reminded that Latvian national basketball player Rolands Šmits, who has already extended his contract with the club until the end of the 2025/2026 season, will also play in “Žalgiris” next season.
