LBS has submitted a financial request to the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), in which it is informed that the regulations of the World Cup with an unforeseeable number of games and the end date of the competition “seriously hampered” the logistics planning of the Latvian delegation. The qualification for the playoffs of the eight best teams has extended the stay of the Latvian delegation at the tournament venues and “significantly increased” the cost of the trip from Manila to Latvia.
Taking into account the long distance from Manila to Riga, the size of the delegation and the current limited availability of air tickets, the team’s return to Latvia to the UAE was organized in several parts and groups, while the remaining part of the journey is planned with a charter flight of the national airline “airBaltic” on the Dubai-Riga route.
In order to cover the costs of ensuring participation in the final tournament of the World Cup, 105,000 euros will be allocated, according to the draft order.
