“ACS would like to express our gratitude for the support and dedication of individuals and families, such as the Snyders, who have generously given their time, service, and financial contributions. Through their contributions, we are able to make great strides in the fight against cancer and positively impact the lives of cancer patients and their families,” a statement from ACS read.

Following six months of being on the market without a buyer, Snyder lowered the original price by over million, bringing it down to .9 million.
Snyder owned the Commanders for just over 24 years before he was forced to sell the team following a series of controversies that ended with him getting fined million

The team sale that took place on July 21, 2023, coincided with the announcement of a fine.

The charity has no plans to make the mansion their new headquarters. In fact, they will not be using it at all. According to a spokesperson for the charity, The Washington Post reported that the ACS intends to sell the mansion and use the funds to further their goal of bettering the lives of those affected by cancer.

Snyder had a less-than-stellar reputation as an owner, but assisting the ACS most likely holds significant value to him. His spouse, Tanya, was previously diagnosed with breast cancer and played a crucial role in the launch of the “THINK-PINK®” campaign for the NFL in 2013.

Despite lowering the asking price, Snyder did not find any buyers for his house. Therefore, he made the decision to remove it from the market and give it away for free. Instead of selling the luxurious home, Snyder chose to donate it to the American Cancer Society, as reported by The Washington Post.

The previous owner of the Washington Commanders did not encounter any difficulties in selling the team in July 2023, as per the NFL owners’ decision.unanimously approved a billion sale

“I was attempting to sell the Commanders while also selling my Maryland mansion, but encountered challenges with the latter,” Josh Harris was informed.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Snyder put his mansion up for sale in February 2023 with an asking price of million. If you’re wondering how much house you get for million, you can scroll through the photos below.

Even though it is an amazing donation, Snyder will benefit in one way: as a former NFL owner, he can claim the appraised value of the house as a tax deduction. If the assessed value is million, then he will receive a million deduction, making the donation financially beneficial for him.

After further evaluation, it appears that offloading a football team is considerably simpler compared to offloading a grand estate, especially in the case of Dan Snyder.
